Through Flow Impedors
Through Flow impedors are the most commonly used and least expensive types of impedor. All EHE impedors utilise high performance fluted ferrite to ensure low eddy current losses and maximum cooling efficiency. Our Through flow impedors are available in diameters from 5mm to 152mm. Where practically possible we use single pieces of ferrite for maximum efficiency and greater mechanical robustness. Through flow impedors are available in two designs;
- Standard through Flow - Ferrite is totally secured and enclosed inside the casing body of the impedor.
- Exposed ferrite Through flow - This design allows the final 10% or so of the ferrite length to be uncovered. This is particularly advantageous for smaller diameters as it allows the ferrite to be positioned closer to the weld point. In addition the greater coolant flow can be a useful feature where coatings cause excessive 'spume' build up on the impedor (aluminised or pre-galvanised tubes).

There are two (2) impedor casing options for through impedors, standard Epoxy glass and Ferroglass™. Superior Technologies Europe recommends Ferroglass™ for all impedors up to around 22mm diameter as it has ferrite powder impregnated into the epoxy casing. Ferroglass™ is specifically manufactured for HF welding and can improve weld speeds by as much as 40%.
Standard impedor length is 230mm but we also offer through impedors in the following lengths: 330mm, 430mm, 630mm, 830mm and 1030mm.
