Canticut I.D. Scarfing System
The Canticut internal tube scarfing system uses a short, cantilevered mandrel which is attached to a heavy fabricated anchor stand mounted just ahead of the welding coil or contacts. The anchor stand incorporates a pivot block & bearing, actuated by means of a hydraulic cylinder. This allows the entire bar to be lowered by a small amount so that the cutting tool can be disengaged. Operation is completely automatic; the cutting tool drops down when the welding power is switched off.
The anchor stand has cross slides and jacks for fine adjustment of cutting depth, as well as mandrel position on two axes. Optional rotary seam guides can be supplied if required to suit certain mill layouts. Each system is specifically designed to suit the mill on which it will operate.
CANTICUT BENEFITS:
- No moving parts or hydraulics inside the tube.
- One mandrel covers 6-5/8” to 24” OD.
- No change in cutting depth for normal gauge variations.
- All adjustments are made from outside the tube.
- Weld spume is not rolled into tube wall.
- Faster cutting tool changes—typically less than 5 minutes.
- Optional hydraulic bead chopper available for most installations.
- Higher welding efficiency due to optimal impeder placement.
